SOS Children's Villages has captured the admiration and support of organisations and famous identities around the world.

The Dalai Lama – spiritual leader and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize:

The revolutionary idea and general concept developed by Hermann Gmeiner for providing abandoned children with a new family and a permanent home has made a great influence on child welfare worldwide. SOS Children's Villages has become a model on every continent."

FIFA – the world's soccer federation:
FIFA has adopted SOS as its specific charity. Many of the world's most famous football stars give their time to visit our villages and support our children. Both teams visited our Village in Marseilles before the match between the FIFA World All Stars and France.

The Princess Salimah Aga Khan:
The Princess recently sold millions of dollars of her personal jewellery to help children and donated substantial amounts from the proceeds to children in need. In the process she became aware of SOS and became so involved that she is now an International Ambassador for SOS. She recently opened a new SOS Village in Tibet.

The Bolshoi Ballet:
The Bolshoi gave a special concert in Moscow to mark the 50th Anniversary of SOS in Russia.

The Rolling Stones:
At a rock concert in Imst, Austria, the site of our very first SOS Village, Brian Adams visited the village to declare his support.

Gerhard Berger: - Former Formula 1 racing driver:
Quote – "An organisation like SOS deserves the support of everyone who had the good fortune to enjoy a happy childhood. I am happy to give some of my good fortune for this cause."

Johnny Cash – legendary country and western singer: Johnny Cash was a great admirer of Hermann Gmeiner and has long been a supporter of SOS Children's Villages. He has a special relationship with our village in Jamaica to which he personally gifted a family house.

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra:
At a special performance in Innsbruck the orchestra raised $480,000 for SOS.
